Using the media library

QuizOffice Blog 4 media library

In our previous article we showed you how to create a worksheet in the QuizOffice interface, and now we would like to introduce you to managing the media library!

Did you know that you can edit the images too?

In this article we would like to walk you through this function, step by step!

How do I get to the media library?

You can reach the media library by logging in to your own profile as a teacher, then clicking the “Media library” menu item in the left-hand menu. Here you can already see your own media library menu, where you can do the following:

  • Paste from the clipboard – if you have taken a screenshot, or cut one out with the snipping tool, this option lets you paste it into your media library. You just click the button, you can choose whether it should have a transparent background, and with a Ctrl+V key combination you paste in the image on your clipboard. Then you can name it and adjust its size in just the same way as with the “New blank image” function.
  • New blank image – you create a completely empty surface on which you can build your own image from scratch.
  • Upload new media – here you can upload your own image from your computer.
  • New folder – you can organise these images into folders so that they are easier to find again. You can create folders with the “New folder” menu item.

While we are on the subject of folders, you can also simply drag the images into the folder you want. You can do this by pressing on the image, not letting go, and dragging it into the chosen folder in the “folder list” on the left. Folders, however, cannot be rearranged, they stay in the order in which you created them.

What can I do with a “New blank image”?

If you click the “New blank image” button, a window immediately pops up on the right-hand side where:

  • you can name the image,
  • you can assign a tag to it (searching for it later will bring it up among the results)
  • you can enter a new tag of your own,
  • and you can set its size.

If you save it, it will also appear in your own media library among the other images. (You can do all the same things with the “Paste from the clipboard” option.)

In the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner of the image you have 4 editing options:

  • Edit – here you can edit the image’s data.
  • Edit image – you can edit the image itself.
  • Copy – you can make a copy of the image.
  • Delete – you delete the image from your media library.

Let’s see the editing functions!

If you choose the “Edit image” option, you can fully personalise your image here.

  • You can draw shapes, and not just the basic circle, triangle and square forms, but special figures too, such as a star, a shoe, a bone, etc.
  • But you can also draw on the image freehand.
  • They can also be rotated.
  • You can choose the colour of the outline and the colour of the fill as well.
  • You can crop around it, if for example the editing surface is bigger than the figure on it and the smaller one is enough for you, then you just crop around it.
  • You can also put text on the image.
  • You can adjust the sizes.
  • It can be aligned right, left or centre.
  • Arrows can also be placed on it.

Once you have saved it, it will appear after you refresh the folder. Using the same method you can also draw on an existing image, add a few figures or an equation to it, turn it into a puzzle by covering up one of the objects, write on it, for example: “What could be in place of the circle?”, etc.

What can I use these images for?

In worksheets you can assign an image to the questions. You can choose this from the media library we provide, but you can also assign one of the images you have uploaded and/or edited yourself from your own media library.

You can attach an image to worksheet questions in several ways:

  • You can add a general image related to the question, and you can also arrange where it should appear, and change its size as well.
  • Depending on the question type you can specify several images, where the image has a different function in each case, for example: you can also give an image to a radio button.

In fact, you can even “steal” an image from the shared media library!

When editing a worksheet you can see both the shared and your own media library, so you can decide which one you want to pick an image from. If you have taken a liking to an image or figure in the shared media library, but you would like to edit something on it, all you have to do is copy the image by clicking the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner of the image. As soon as you select this, it has already been moved into your own media library, where you can edit it just like your other images. You can draw on it, place text on it, crop it, etc.

If creating worksheets is no rarity in your everyday work, and the functions described above would come in handy for you too, then take out a subscription on the QuizOffice site and discover the secrets of the media library!

We are handing you the key to simpler, more comfortable and faster work on a plate!
