Just like students, teachers have a summer break too. Many people envy teachers their job because of this, since they not only get to relax with the children over the summer and get paid for it, but they also get all the other school holidays. Which makes sense, because who would they teach if everyone is at home?
What does the summer break mean for a teacher!
That is all an outside observer sees, but we looked into what the summer break period actually looks like for teachers. We are not saying that all those school holidays are unattractive from this point of view, but it is not all plain sailing either!
Their duties during the summer break:
- Administrative tasks
For students, teaching generally ends on 15 June, but teachers still have plenty of administrative tasks left, which are also part of their job. Compared with the start of the students’ summer break, that is after 15 June, the teaching staff only follow them two weeks later.
Until then they:
- run camps,
- prepare for retake exams,
- write school reports and school documents,
- mark tests,
- tidy up the classrooms,
- attend further training,
- and deal with their other school business.
- Training, self-development
For teachers it is important to keep their knowledge up to date, which means something different for each subject. During the summer break, however, they can train themselves not only in that area, but can also start courses in their own, independent field of interest.
Every school has a teacher credit system, meaning that each year you have to complete the training or courses matching the prescribed credits. Our accredited Academy course is also part of this system; it can be found in the Adult Training Data Reporting System under the following number: B/2021/001281

What does accredited training mean?
Accreditation, as a concept, means an evaluation that guarantees the quality of the training. It defines the requirements associated with reaching the desired quality, as well as the description and operation of the evaluation system. These accredited courses are how institutions maintain their standards, and they provide a basis of comparison for professionals.
- Returning to school
For teachers, the summer break starting in the second half of July lasts right up until after 20 August, from which point they return to school earlier, before the students.
This is when the following take place:
- discussions about the next school year,
- putting together the curriculum,
- planning the timetables,
- examining the retake candidates,
- marking the retake exams,
- and the rooms are usually decorated too.
The introduction of new systems is also discussed at these start-of-year meetings. If you would like QuizOffice to become part of the school system too, then do not be afraid to raise the idea!
Its worksheet editor function is a very useful help for every teacher. It is efficient and very economical in terms of time, because by creating one worksheet you can cover a whole school year! All you have to do is swap the questions, and on top of that students can fill it in online, and the system marks it as well, saving you even more time.
What is more, with the help of the Academy course you can easily learn how to use the system!
As a course that can be completed during the summer break, we recommend to every teacher and member of school staff that they complete the QuizOffice Academy course!
And it is useful not only for teachers, but for everyone who would like to learn to use the QuizOffice worksheet editor application to a professional standard!
